What it is: Journal clubs can be daunting. There is much more to a journal article than the abstract (surprise). Healthcare professionals must know how to interpret, analyze, and apply the nitty-gritty details of clinical trials and medical literature. Why it can benefit you: The key part of the journal club is answering the question “How does this apply to clinical practice?” To formulate a recommendation, you need to know what each article section means and what key aspects to look for (hint: baseline demographics, type of outcomes, subgroup analyses, number needed to treat/harm, generalizability).
